Healthy Diet For Acne - Key to Preventing Acne Breakouts

Yes, you may have heard it countless times, the food you put into your body does matter! In other words, the diet you eat does have direct effect on your body. If you eat healthy diet, it results in positive effect. If you eat unhealthy food, it results in negative effect. According to many experts, the diet you eat also plays a vital role in the overall health of your skin. To keep your skin free from acne and other forms of skin diseases, you need to keep your diet healthy.

I'm sure you have seen many commercial ads on television or magazines claiming that if you use this and that product, you will have beautiful skin. Well, based on my own personal experiences in treating acne, all these products only work in short term. They don't address the root cause of problem, they're just covering the surface. It's like spraying air freshener in a dirty toilet, it only works for few minutes and the bad smell is back again. To get rid of the smell, you must of course clean that dirty toilet.

Similarly, those acne skin care products work like your air freshener. If your diet is unhealthy, that acne won't go away! I had suffered from acne for many years and tried many different treatments. From conventional treatment such as taking antibiotics and accutane (or Isotetinoin drugs), over-the-counters products, to some expensive products I bought over the Net and from the TV ads... none of them worked for long term.

It wasn't until I modified my diets that those pesky acne started to disappear. Note that there are foods that cause hormonal imbalance and hence acne breakouts. Whilst other foods cause hormones to balance, preventing acne breakouts.

The best diets to eat are those rich in vitamins A, C and E such as fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables. Carrots, broccoli, sweet potatoes, mangoes, kale, spinach contain lot of Vitamin A and E. They're also antioxidants that help protect your cells against the effects of free radicals. For your source of Vitamin C, you should eat plenty of fruits like apple, grapes, papayas, strawberries, kiwis, mangoes and oranges.

Avoid high fat foods especially saturated fat! Saturated fats are mainly found in animal products such as meat, dairy, eggs and seafood. However, some plant-based foods are also high in saturated fats such as coconut oil and palm kernel oil. Fatty foods not only cause hormonal imbalance and acne breakouts, they're also harmful to your body.

But, you should also be aware that there are GOOD fatty foods as well, these good fats are essential to a well-balanced diet. A good example of good fat is Omega-3 found in salmon. Other sources of good fats are walnuts, corn, soy, almonds, avocado, canola, olive oil, safflower and sunflower oils.

These are the healthy diets for acne. If you want a long-term solution for preventing acne breakouts, be familiar with the diets we mentioned above.
